That was one unforgettable weekend: Metronomy’s dancy beats, the wild sounds of Atari Teenage Riot, the living magic of Charles Bradley, the insanity of Swans, the phenomenal Battles, and the charismatic Thurston Moore, Kim Gordon, Stephen Malkmus, and Henry Rollins, and, last but not least, the one and only living legend, Iggy Pop and his raucous company. The seventh annual OFF Festival will go down in history.
Thanks for being there with us, for smiling at each other, for partying until dawn, and for giving us something to miss. Thank you for being quiet and focused like a philharmonic audience at the acoustic shows, and for showing the artists what it means to go crazy when they brought the roaring guitars out on stage. James Newell Osterberg Jr. (born April 21, 1947), known professionally as Iggy Pop, is an American singer, musician, songwriter, actor and radio broadcaster. He was the vocalist and lyricist of proto-punk band the Stooges, who were formed in 1967 and have disbanded and reunited many times since.[1] Often called the "Godfather of Punk",[2][3] he was named one of the 50 Great Voices by NPR. In 2010, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of the Stooges. Pop also received a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2020 for his solo work.[4]
