Manish Malhotra (born 5 December 1966) is an Indian fashion designer, couturier, costume stylist, entrepreneur, filmmaker and revivalist based in Mumbai, India.
The founder of the eponymous label, Manish Malhotra, he sometimes took part in the narration and scripting to develop film costumes. Malhotra received the Priyadarshini Memorial Award for his contribution to the fashion industry and the Filmfare Award for Best Costume Design in 1996 for the film Rangeela (1995).
Manish Malhotra has launched two other new ventures – Manish Malhotra High Jewellery and a film production company called Stage5 Production. As of January 2025, his net worth is estimated to be US$300 million.
Early life
[edit]Manish Malhotra was born to a Punjabi Hindu family in Mumbai, India. He studied at the Sacred Heart Boys High School, Mumbai. At the age of 19, while studying Arts at Elphinstone College in Mumbai, he did a few modeling gigs in ad campaigns for brands like Fu's, Weekender, Frooti, and Goldspot. He then joined a boutique in Bandra called Equinox, where he spent his time sketching and draping the mannequins for a year.
